Reduction Initiative (NPRI).
SECTION 3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
INHALATION ACUTE EXPOSURE EFFECTS
May irritate mucous membranes in the respiratory tract.
INHALATION CHRONIC EXPOSURE EFFECTS
May cause liver and kidney damage. Repeated overexposure may cause central
nervous system depression and anesthesia.
SKIN CONTACT ACUTE EXPOSURE EFFECTS
May cause redness, swelling, rash and blistering.
EYE CONTACT ACUTE EXPOSURE EFFECTS
May cause burning or irritation of eyes.
INGESTION ACUTE EXPOSURE EFFECTS
Ingestion can result in irritation and possible corrosive action in the mouth,
stomach tissue and digestive tract. Vomiting may cause aspiration of solvent
resulting in chemical pneumonitis.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED
Asthma and any other respiratory disorders (bronchitis, emphysema,
hyperactivity), skin allergies, eczema.
SECTION 4. FIRST AID MEASURES
INHALATION; Remove to fresh air. Artificial respiration as needed. Obtain
medical assistance.
SKIN CONTACT; Wash affected areas with soap and water. Obtain medical
assistance, if needed.
EYE CONTACT; Flush with lukewarm water for at least fifteen minutes, get medical
attention.
INGESITON; Do not induce vomiting. Call a physician. If conscious, give a glass
of water to person.
SECTION 5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES
Full emergency equipment with self-contained breathing apparatus and protective
clothing should be worn for fire fighters. Highly toxic gases may be generated
by thermal decomposition or combustion.
HAZARDOUS PRODUCTS/COMBUSTION
By fire; hydrocyanic acid, oxides of nitrogen can form.
FIRE AND EXPOSION HAZARDS
Closed containers may explode when exposed to extreme heat or burst when
contaminated with water (CO2 evolved). Solvent vapors may be heavier than air.
Stagnant air may cause vapors to accumulate and travel along the ground to an
ignition source which may result in a flash back to the source of the vapors.
EXTINGUISHING METHOD
Foam, alcohol foam, CO2, dry chemical, water fog.

SECTION 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
CLEAN-UP
Remove all sources of ignition immediately. Ventilate to reduce the airborne
contaminant concentrations below the TLV. Absorb spill with suitable material.
Transfer to a DOT approved container for approval.
SECTION 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
HANDLING
Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flames
STORAGE
Ground containers during storage and transfer operations. Store in tightly
closed containers to prevent contamination. Keep away from heat, sparks and open
flames.
GENERAL COMMENTS
Do not store over 80 degrees F.
SECTION 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
VENTILATION PROTECTION
Use exhaust when general ventilation is not sufficient to keep airborne
contaminant concentration below TLV.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION
Use appropriate, properly fitted NIOSH/MSHA approve respirator when airborne
contaminant levels exceed the TLV(s). Follow the manufacturers directions for
respirator use.
SKIN PROTECTION
Protection hands with impervious rubber gloves. Prevent contact with skin.
Gloves must be checked before each use.
EYE PROTECTION
Chemical-splash goggles.
OTHER PROTECTION
Rubber apron and overshoes recommended.
